The Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan (CFOS) is honored to welcome the Danny Prial Scholarship & Charity Fund to its family of funds. The Danny Prial Scholarship & Charity Fund was established in 2021 in memory of Danny Prial, a longtime member of the Warwick community who was tragically killed while serving his country.
Danny grew up in Warwick and attended St. Stephen’s School and Warwick Valley High School. Following graduation, he attended the United States Military Academy at West Point. Danny then entered the 82nd Airborne Division as a helicopter pilot and was deployed to Afghanistan. He lived his dream of flying, with a career as a Black Hawk helicopter pilot for the U.S. Army.
Tragically, Danny was among three soldiers who died in a helicopter training mission crash with the New York National Guard. Danny’s friends and family established the Danny Prial Scholarship and Charity Fund to support various charitable/educational projects.
“Danny loved being raised in Warwick and this town was incredibly special to him,” said Danny’s parents, Anne and Greg Prial. “The genuine joy Danny felt from making friendships and spending time with his close friends fed his commitment as a soldier.”
The money raised will go towards awarding scholarships to deserving individuals in need at SUNY Orange Community College, and help to fund charities close to Danny’s heart since as the Wiregrass Children's Home. Danny had such a strong presence in this community and he would be honored and humbled that his good will and kindness is carried on through this fund.
